How to change file permissions

Permissions control who can read, write or run a file.

Steps

1. Log in to cPanel.
2. Go to the Files section.
3. Click File Manager.
4. Select the file or folder.
5. Click Permissions.
6. Use 644 for files and 755 for folders.
7. Click Change Permissions.

Notes

• Do not use 777. It is not safe.
